Yippy National Mutt Day!

Last week I pawmised to continue yapping about ‘Understanding Your Good Dog’s or Cat’s Urine Analysis’ with pawt 2 ‘How to Interpret the Results of Your Good Dog’s or Cat’s Urinalysis & I pawmise I will come back to this impawtant subject matter but I couldn’t miss observing National Mutt Day; especially since I am a proud card carrying member.

National Mutt Day, is celebrated on this day July 31 & focuses on mixed breed good dogs who are often overlooked. This howliday’s pawpose is to encourage humans to learn more about the pawsitive advantages of adopting a wooftastic mixed breed good  dog.

National Mutt Day brings attention to the many great mixed breed dogs that are in need of loving homes. In fact, they benefit from the spotlight so much that we celebrate mixed breed dogs not July 31st, but again on December 2.  So let’s put our paws up & bark out in celebration of all the mutts & mixed breed dogs that make our lives so great.

There are ways you can honor National Mutt Day & here are 3 wagnificent ways to do so:

1.  Adopt A Mixed Breed Good Dog.  There are so many of us wooftastic dogs out there who don’t have a loving home just because we are not purebreed dogs. You can do your pawt to change all that. We nose adopting any dog is a big responsibility & we are glad you nose it to, but a mixed breed will likely be healthier, happier, better behaved — & may even live longer than a purebred of the same age.
2.  Vounteer At Your Local Shelter.  Shelters always are in need of volunteers.  You can come & befuriend the dogs, play with them & take them for walkies. A few hours of your time can make a big difference in their happiness & we all nose happy dogs are healthier & have a better chance of getting adopted by a loving human.
3.  Donate To Your Local Shelter.  If you’re not in the pawsition to adopt a mixed breed good dog or volunteer you can still help out your local shelter with a donation. Your donation will go to things like food, toys & medicine. Your donation can really make a difference in the lives of all the dogs at the shelter.  Don’t have cash to give but you do have blankets, toys or bed.  Pawsome, they are always welcome.

To often mixed breed dogs end up in a shelter more frequently & they tend to wait longer before getting adopted. But us mutts have all the goodness you love about dogs & National Mutt Day is about getting them the love & attention they dogserve.  It’s impawsible to be blind to the recent urgency that our good dogs are facing in shelters even more recently so l let’s make this year’s National Mutt Day pawtastic!
