Today’s artist not only appeals to huMom’s love of silly, quirky and funky chunks of color but he’s also dog gone all about the dogs. Hi CEO Olivia here barking about American painter, sculptor & teacher Roy De Forest.
Roy De Forest was involved in both the Funk art & Nut art movements in the Bay Area of California back a million moons ago, the 50s – 70s. After graduating from San Francisco State University, Roy went on to teach. He taught children classes in the day & taught prisoners in the Bay Area prison, San Quentin at night. In 1965 he started working for UC Davis Art Department. Although he was originally hired as a lecturer he worked his way up to assistant pawfessor & eventually full pawfessor in 1974. His first exhibition was in 1955. Let’s take a look at what I sniffed out for you.

You can sniff out more of Roy De Forest’s pawsome work on Instagram by searching #roydeforest or goggle his name & click images. You will pawsitively dig up a hole lot of wooftastic dog art, I pawmise.
Have a pawsome weekend. Remember to be gnawsome, be kind & stay safe.
