Although we are already half way through the month of September we wanted to let you nose September is ‘Happy Cat Month’! Meow Now, it’s Dot & Jerry Underfoot here to meow all about what that means & how it began.
Happy Cat Month takes place every September to celebrate us furbulous feline furleggers & raise awareness about our physical & emotional well-being. It was created & launched by The CATalyst Council in September 2011. While the initiative was initially established in 2011, it was later shifted & officially dedicated as a full month-long awareness campaign in September 2015.
This non-profit group The CATaylyst established the annual observance to educate humans about proper feline care. They wanted to dispel the myth that we cats are completely self-sufficient, aloof & do not need veterinary care or affection like our canine furiends. We pawsitively require routine veterinary check ups, proper nutrition, & interactive play. Oh, Dot wanted me to emphasize the impawtance of tasty snacks & nibbles.
Want to nose how to celebrate our month? Erect spaces like cat trees, shelves just for us to perch on or cat tunnels to run through. Even a cardboard box can pawsitively amuse us but we really like if you switch them out for new ones or create doors that we can run through.
We loves our toys that are designed for us felines who love to catch, gnaw, release & help satisfy our prey drive while keeping our playtime fun, engaging, & naturally safe. Our Knotty Nips for Cool Cats, Knotty Bon Bons for Cool Cats & Knotty Kitty Kickers are meowsome toys that we both loves to play with everyday. They are safe, natural & last for a long time. Jerry still has his 1st Knotty Nip for years ago. He has new ones too but he still pawsitively enjoys pouncing, hiding & tossing that first one.
HuMom weekly checks us over for any health issues & she makes sure we do regular organ detox using Omega Alpha’s Supplements Liver Tone, Kidney Tone & Lung Tone. We also are given Probiotic Plus 8 every morning & Nutrify in the evening. HuMom puts it in our meals. Since we are senior kittens (MOL) we also take Pet Vitality daily. Remember to schedule a routine veterinary visits. That way you may pawvent hidden health issues early.
Now go get your furbulous feline(s) a snack, & a toy you both can enjoy.
Want to check out the CATalyst Council? Paw here.
Oh, want to nose how to say, “I love you” in cat?
How do I say “I love you” in cat? You do so using a slow blink.
- Look at us with soft, relaxed eyes.
- Close your eyes slowly & gently.
- Open your eyes slowly after a short pause.
- Avoid a hard, direct stare because we cats view that as a threat & you don’t want to get hurt when you just want to say, “I love you”.
Have a purrfect week!
Remember to be gnawsome, be kind & stay safe.
