Hey, it’s me, Jerry Underfoot & my furbulous feline sister Dot.  We were mewing the other day when huMom was packaging up some Knotty Toys fur one of our wagnificent customers.  I, being a curious cat asked this impawtant question.  Dot thought it would be a good idea to share our conversation furbatim.  It went like this:

Jerry: Quick question. Who’s the dog on our stuff?

Dot: That’s Chelsey. Also known as Mona Beasta.

Jerry: Already iconic.

 

Dot: She was a brindle & white English Bull Terrier who lived with huMom after spending a long time at the animal hospital with her brother Winston. When Winston found his forever home, Chelsey stayed & then huMom’ adopted her.

Jerry: Okay, I like her already.

Dot: Everyone did. Chelsey was so loved around Queen St. West in Toronto that one year, people threw her a birthday party in Trinity Bellwoods dog park.

Jerry: Like… a real party?

Dot: A huge one. It took over the whole park.

Jerry: Legend!

Dot: HuMom’s best friend, artist Phil Michaud, drew Chelsey for the birthday posters that were all over the neighbourhood.

Jerry: & that drawing…

Dot: Is the logo you see on our website, our cards & our toys.

 

 

Jerry: Okay but I’ve only seen the “burny logo thing” on one toy.

Dot: Good eye. Right now, Chelsey is branded directly into the Knotty Rove Tosser.

Jerry: Ah yes. The dramatic one.

Dot: HuMom wanted the toys to stay as natural as possible. She couldn’t find a dye that was safe, & embroidery didn’t feel right.

Jerry: So she chose fire!

 

Dot: She chose branding, literally. A custom iron made from Chelsey’s face brands the logo right into the hemp.

 

 

Jerry: Very permanent. Very bold.

Dot: Very Chelsey.

Jerry: What about the other toys?

Dot: They still carry her. Each one has a label with Chelsey’s face, tied on with purple hemp twine.

Jerry: So no matter what..

Dot: Every toy still comes with her.

Jerry: I like that.

Dot: A very good dog, keeping an eye on things.

Jerry: Including me?

Dot: Especially you.

Jerry: I will behave but will you?

Dot: I think you nose the answer to that question.
