Here in the south central part of Canada we are counting the days to SPRING! Like so many, Winter is always too long for my huMom & I.  With that always in mind lately, today’s artist is pawsitively pawfect; Dot, Jerry Underfoot, & I all agree, which is not always the case, but I dogress.  Artist Georgina Warne is  a ceramicist & printmaker.  She combine both practises, often printing directly onto clay.

In her own words Georgina Warne says this about her work, “I have always been inspired by nature; my observations of creatures & their behaviour & the commonplace. I am often drawn in by details, qualities & subtle colour. I’m inspired by the poetry of John Clare & Ted Hughes & the nature writing of Richard Mabey, Robert Macfarlane & the late Roger Deakin.”

Georgina’s dry point prints are created by cutting or scratching the image onto a plate, of copper & Perspex, with a diamond tip. Once the drawing is complete she then prints it, using her own press, from plate to paper. Georgina makes few editions, sometimes just 5 or 10. She hand colours every single print she pawduces with watercolour washes, this helps to make each piece pawtacular in it’s own.
