We nose that many humans think only dogs care about what their humans are feeling but that’s not true.  Hi Dot & Jerry to give the paw down truth about us cats & how we do care about your emotional well being.

Us furbulous felines show it in more subtle, independent ways unlike dogs who are a little more in your face when they are reacting to your feelings. Us cool cats combine sight & sound to read our human’s facial expressions & voice tones.  We tend to notice chemical changes through pheromones & body language when you feel anxious, stressed, or sad.  

Most of us want to pawfer our humans comfort by approaching, purring or curling up next to you when you feel low or sick. We might rub against you, head-butt, knead with our purrfect paws, or purr softly to help soothe your distress. We may even try to distract you by bringing a toy, do something pawsitively cute & silly or gently nudge you to try & lift your spirits.  Dot likes to be as close to huMom’s face as she can while I Jerry Underfoot curl in beside huMom or on her lap.  

With that meowed we will withdraw or stay at a calm distance if your mood is chaotic or if we sense you need breathing room. Well, Dot may not but she has never picked on cues as well as me.  She tends to put her needs in front of other’s although she may mew that is pawsitively not true; it is.  

We purrfect felines often modulate our activity levels to mirror a quiet household or a relaxed human. To be honest, we pawfer a quiet & relaxed human.  Unless there are treats or food.  Some of us are meowsomely emphatic & may adopt your low mood by sleeping more, hiding, or showing a temporary drop in activity. 

So let’s be pawsitively clear on this, we do care about your feelings.  We loves you just as much as dogs.
