“Voices of Care: Olivia’s Legacy on Supporting Epilepsy Caregivers”

Canine Epilepsy Awareness, November Epilepsy Awareness Month

Epilepsy Warrior Olivia’s little fur brother Jerry Underfoot & fur sister Dot here today padding up to the keyboard, on this last Monday of Epilepsy Awareness Month, with hearts that miss her & paws full of love for the humans who care for Warriors like our Mighty Warrior fur sister Olivia. They know firsthand that every seizure, every sleepless night, & every vet visit lands just as hard on the caregiver’s nervous system as it does on the Epilepsy Warrior’s body.

Remembering Olivia’s mission

Olivia spent her life barking out about more than meds & triggers; she also spoke up for the humans behind the scenes who hold the leash, track the seizures, & keep showing up, even on the hardest days. We want to be sure that her voice doesn’t go quiet just because she gained her wings in February, so we are sharing some of Olivia’s past posts that focus on caring for the caregiver & soothing a frazzled nervous system.

Why caregivers matter too

Caregivers are often running on empty while trying to be strong for their Epilepsy Warriors, & that kind of constant vigilance can lead to burnout, anxiety, & health issues of their own. By revisiting Olivia’s gentle reminders & practical ideas—like simple reset rituals, quick relaxation tools, & “60-second” calming practices, we hope every caregiver will feel seen, valued, & invited to take even a few moments to breathe, rest, & refill their own cup.

What we will share

In this blog, we, Jerry Underfoot & Dot will:

  • Share Olivia’s purrfect posts on caregiver self-care & stress signs.

  • Highlight easy techniques for resetting the nervous system that caregivers can use anytime, anywhere.

  • Offer gentle, whiskered encouragement to follow the links, try one tool today, & honor Olivia by taking care of the most important part of an Epilepsy Warrior’s support team: you.
