Nora the Piano Cat

Canine Culture

Hi everyone, CEO Olivia reporting. I apawlogize for being a day behind. Since it’s Caturday, I asked my feline family members, Jerry Underfoot & Dottie to assist me today. They hunted the interwebs & discovered a rather amazing cat, who is a famous piano player.

Nora is a self confessed “Bossy” cat who was adopted from a shelter in New Jersey. Although she lives with other cats, she pawfers her own company. Her huMom is a piano teacher & after watching many students at the piano, Nora thought she’d give it a go. Her humans put a video of her playing piano on YouTube & it’s had over 6 million views to date. So more videos followed.

CATcerto was the brainchild of Lithuanian conductor, composer & artist Mindaugas Piečaitis. He had the idea to write a concerto inspired by Nora after he watched her videos on YouTube. The world premiere of CATcerto was performed by a Chamber Orchestra in the Klaipėda Concert Hall in Klaipėda (Lithuania) on 5th June, 2009. Mr. Piečaitis conducted, as Nora appeared as guest soloist via pre-recorded video projected onto a large screen behind the orchestra. It’s the first piece of music written for a cat.

The CATcerto has since been performed by orchestra’s all over the world. You can follow Nora on her Facebook page.

Have a pawsome weekend. Stay home & stay safe.

CEO Olivia ❤
