dOGUMENTA, An Art Show For Good Dogs

Canine Culture

Hello everyone, CEO Olivia here. It’s a wooftastic autumn day here at Knotty Toys for Good Dogs. Today I’m barking about an art show I sniffed out that’s called, dOGUMNTA. Through a variety of media—from sound & sculpture to kibble & squeaky toys, dogumenta is the first art installation for dogs. Exhibition-goers will encounter work of art that address formal, conceptual & experiential elements such as color, sound, scent & touch. All with us canines in mind.

The idea came from one of the curators, Jessica Dawson. While taking New York gallery walks with her rescue dog, Rocky, it became clear that Rocky saw art differently than humans & Dawson decided Rocky & his friends deserved an exhibition of art all their own. A radical, pioneering concept, dOGUMENTA takes its name from Documenta, a major art survey that takes place every five years & is considered the gold standard for international art exhibitions.

The exhibit takes place in Los Angeles, between September 14, 2018 – September 23, 2018, on the Friday, Saturday & Sunday only. They ask only one dog per human & leashes are requested. Both Sundays will feature an onsite, mobile dog adoption section with LA Animal Services from 11 am to 3 pm & trainers from the Los Angeles Positive Dog Trainer Alliance will be onsite each day of the exhibition to help support dog owners & their good dogs.

Oh look, dogs can sign a guest book!

Too bad this is on the other side of the continent, I would love to take part in this experience. Are you in the Los Angeles area? Maybe you & your good dog could attend & tell me all about it.

Enjoy the day everyone.

CEO Olivia
