A Sky Update / Montreal

News

It’s a beautiful sunny Autumn day here. Hello, CEO Olivia here. Today I’m touching on two topics that are related.

The first bit of news is about Sky. You remember her, she was taken from her family under BSL (Breed Specific Legislation) simply because of her appearance. She would have been euthanized if not for her family launching a legal battle to get her home.

We’ve been following this story for a long time now. Sky has been isolated in a Police Kennel since April 2016 despite a Court Ordered Exemption in August of that year. So the legal battle continues. The High Court of London will be hearing Sky’s case on November 10th. That’s this Friday!

Sky‘s story & ways to help can be found at these 3 links:

A second bit of news is that the city of Montreal has elected a new Mayor. We here at Knotty Toys for Good Dogs wish to Congratulate Mayor Valérie Plante. The BSL & Pit bulls in particular were a prominent election issue. Plante’s party, Projet Montréal, promised to repeal the city’s year-old pit bull ban if elected. Wooftastic!

A dog is a dog, put an end to BSL everywhere.

  1. All our fingers and paws are crossed!!!! I can’t even imagine what that must feel like…on either end…being isolated from your humans and living in a cold kennel…being away from your furry loved one…

I hope if elected, she keeps her promise!!!! END BSL!!!!!

  2. We send pawsitive thoughts Montreal comes to its senses and quickly repeals the BSL. Paws crossed for sweet Sky. Stories like that break my heart. It’s like saying all blue-eyed people are [pick your condition]. Generalizations are stupid and punish the wrong constituency.
