Good News from Fort McMurray

animal rescues

I thought I’d end the week with some good news. About 600 animals were rescued from the city of Fort McMurray & brought to a warehouse in Edmonton to be reunited with their owners in the wake of the wildfire that led to a massive evacuation. This was done for the most part by the Alberta SPCA.

About 50 of the animals rescued from Fort McMurray have been reunited with their owners already. But some 400 animals remain in the holding facility, with 100 scheduled to be reunited with their owners in the coming days.

The animals are stressed but in good health. What they went through up in Fort McMurray & then the long drive down to Edmonton, is a lot for a frightened animal. And it’s not just cats & dogs, the Alberta SPCA rescued all kinds of animals, from snakes & lizards, to hedgehogs & rabbits.

Let’s hope everyone is reunited with their human soon. If you wish to contact or donate to the Alberta SPCA you can go to their web page or visit them on Facebook
