Olivia’s Barkday Card Drive

News

CEO Olivia

Hi everyone, CEO Olivia here. Very soon it will be June 21st. Not only is it the 1st day of Summer, it’s also my Barkday! I will be turning 8 years young this year. To celebrate I’m asking everyone to join my card drive on behalf of our charity of choice, the Wally Foundation. They help qualifying families, Rescues & Shelters with the costs of AED’s (anti epileptic drugs)& also collect & redistribute medications that have been donated.

I have been blessed to be shown such love & support, through social media, from all over the world. I want to give back & help my fellow epi-warriors. They are the good dogs & cats that like me, live with epilepsy.

So here’s what I’d like for my Barkday this year, please send me a Barkday card with a $1 donation for the Wally Foundation. You can also make your donation digitally through PayPal, the account is wally@thewallyfoundation.com  If you use PayPal leave a note & just say, “Olivia’s Barkday”. Either way, in return, I’ll enter you into a draw for a Knotty Toy for Good Dogs prize pack that will include:

  • A Big Gnaw from Knotty Toys for Good Dogs
  • A Pack of delicious Gib Nibs donated by Sassy’s Goodies
  • A copy of, “What’s Wrong with Gibson”, donated by Dorothy Wills-Raftery of FiveSibes
  • A Purple Bracelet donated by epi warrior Lexi & her HooMom, Yvette of Feathered Sunsets
  • A Purple T Shirt designed by Dean Russo & an engraved Dog Tag donated by Critter Comforts.
  • A $25 USD Amazon gift card donated by Rick Selwood, executive director of the Wally Foundation

Although the Wally Foundation is in the U.S.A. it helps out worldwide, so together we can help the global community of Canine Epi-Warriors. I believe that no family should be forced to decide their good dogs fate due to financial stress. Epilepsy is costly to manage & there is no shame in needing assistance.

You can send your card to me at:

A Congratulations Is In Order

News

Hello, CEO Olivia reporting. Today I want to bark out congratulations to Dorothy Wills-Raftery of FiveSibes: Siberian Husky K9 News & Reviews. You remember that my huMom was on her Sibe Vibe radio show a couple of weeks ago. Dorthy has won the 2017 NYC Big Book Award in the Pet Category for her book, “EPIc Dog Tales: Heartfelt Stories About Amazing Dogs Living & Loving Life With Canine Epilepsy”.

The book is a collection of short stories about dogs living with canine epilepsy. One of the stories is about me, Olivia!

Dorothy has written other books too. Her book, “What’s Wrong with Gibson”, is a positive, educational tale of how the FiveSibes help Gibson when he has a seizure from Canine Epilepsy. It’s a book for humans of all ages, & great for helping children understand pets (or anyone) living with Epilepsy.

You can sniff out Dorothy’s books here.

Congratulations Dorothy! Here’s to more success in the future.

Epi-Warrior Gibson

News

Gibson

Today we pay tribute to a fallen warrior. His huMom, Dorothy wrote such a wonderful piece on him we decided to share it as is.

“Gibson” Les Paul of Mystic Mountain

Gibson of my FiveSibes pack was a beautiful woolly Siberian Husky, who was an Epi-dog & ambassador for K-9 Epilepsy Awareness to show dogs can & do live full, happy lives with Canine Epilepsy, for however long we are blessed to have them. He is the star of my first FiveSibes Tale, the illustrated book What’s Wrong With Gibson? Learning About K-9 Epilepsy, & is also on the cover of my book  EPIc Dog Tales: Heartfelt Stories About Amazing Dogs Living & Loving Life With Canine Epilepsy (www.ArcticHousePublishing.com). He has been the face behind many of my articles & blog posts about Canine Epilepsy. Gibson & my mission was, & always will be, to give hope, information, & support to families of dogs with Canine Epilepsy so they know they are not alone in this journey.

Epilepsy did NOT define Gibson, living did. Epilepsy did not take him from me & this earth. Cancer did. Gibson was a strong, brave, & inspirational boy who did not let challenges stop him from loving life. He was diagnosed shortly after his third birthday with idiopathic Canine Epilepsy & was put on anti-seizure medications that, while helping to control his seizures, did cause side effects, including lethargy, bouts of vomiting, weight gain, & weakness in his hind end, but he met each health challenge head on, trusted that I would be by his side, & he conquered many. At the end, Gibson beat the “seizure monster.” His Epilepsy had been successfully managed by medications, supplements, & alternative therapies— he had not had a seizure for almost seven years! Bravo, Gibson!

I will always remember how he loved to give Gibbie kisses; go for walks & car rides; how he did his special Gibbie hip-hop dance; how happy he always was every single day; how he loved his girl Harley & his three siblings, the Pupsters – Wolf, Chloe & Bandit; how he loved to woo “love you” & “ice cream;” how he loved to give me his big, heavy, beautiful polar bear paw; how his namesake treats – the House Woof “Gibbie Snacks,” pizza crust, & ice cream were his all-time favorite treats; how much he loved the snow; how beautiful & velvety his nose was; & how soulful and understanding his beautiful blue eyes were.

Gibson taught me that even when faced with struggles & challenges, to meet them head on & always love & enjoy life. Run free, Gibson – you are my K9 Super Hero. I will love you for eternity, my sweet boy.  ~Dorothy “FiveSibesMom” Wills-Raftery
