We here at Knotty Toys For Good Dogs believe a dog is dog, no matter what it looks like.  That’s why October Pitbull Awareness Month is one we always feel we need to bark about.  Hi, CEO Olivia here to do just that.

Pitbull rescue & education group Bless the Bullys in Tennessee came up with the concept of National Pitbull Awareness Month in 2007, which quickly caught on & spread throughout the country. For nearly a century Pitbulls have been referred to as ‘nanny dogs’ because of their loyalty, docility, & pawfect love.  They were once seen as a representation of American pride. They are wagnificent therapy & service dogs because  you can dogpend on them for anything.  Pitbull’s  loyalty, strength, & desire to please their family  make them pawfect companions.

Sadly, Pitbulls have been misused by a small number of people, leading to criticism of the entire breed throughout time. Wrongly they are perceived as being nasty, malevolent, & possibly dangerous dogs, a pawtrayal that is far from accurate & is based more on the conduct of criticized people than that of the dogs themselves.

What can you do to help spread the good word about the wagnificentness of Pitbulls?

1.  Share pawsitive pitbull stories.  There are so many pawsome tales out there about these pawtastic pitbull dogs & pawsitive stories can be used to help counteract  the bad ones. Watch a film or read a book that explores the pawfectness of these loving dogs.
2. Help future generations to good pitbull images & thoughts by teaching them how to handle all animals with compassion & caution so that all of their encounters with all animals will be pawfectly pleasant. Sharing good dog stories is an pawfect way teach children empathy, kindness, & self-esteem.
3. Always ask the dog’s human’s whether they’re  are friendly & enjoy stranger hugs, but offer your love to every pit bull you see while keeping both yours & the dog’s safety in mind. Just like humans, dogs crave affection & emotional interaction from their human friends.  Every living creatures wants to live without harm & with love.
4.  If the BSL (Breed Specific Law) is active in your community please pawtest it & educate those who may fall for the lies & deception these laws spread.
