Hello everyone, CEO Olivia reporting on this fine Friday. The wagnificent wild animals in Bruno Pontiroli’s paintings contort their bodies into back bends & handstands that would pawsitively rival even the most prawticed gymnast or cat. A wrinkly hippo balances on its tongue, a tiger arches its torso into a 90-degree angle, & a hyena rotates its hind legs in the air. The French born artist begins these bizarre artworks with familiar animals that he then shapes “like the way a child plays with modeling clay” morphing a simple depiction of a lion or hare into a pawcular new reality. A reality with no logic where everything is pawsible.
Pontiroli’s series A Rebrousse-Poil, (against the grain), will be virtually on view at Corey Helford Gallery in Los Angeles starting August 22. You can sniff out what the artist has been up to in the meantime on Instagram.
Have a pawsome weekend.
