Hello everyone, CEO Olivia here. My huMom & I sniff out a lot of Facebook pages & groups that focus on canine epilepsy. In those groups & pages it seems almost every day someone is asking about CBD oil. A frustrating reality is that in many places consulting your vet isn’t an option because vets aren’t legally allowed to even discuss it with clients, let alone prescribe it . So people go online to research.

Knotty Toys for Good Dogs is an affiliate partner with Charlotte’s Web Hemp products made by the Stanley Brothers. They can legally cell CBD Oil in the USA but must follow very strict guidelines not only in the manufacturing but also where, how & what they can say to promote their products. The same goes for us as affiliates, we are legally required to post a disclaimer on our store.

Governments are only now, slowly & reluctantly legalizing cannabis & hemp products. It’s a new scientific field & much research has yet to be done. In the mean time, buyer beware. Unregulated CBD Oils claiming to be a cure all can be a complete rip off containing little or no CBD. How the oil is derived matters a great deal as well. As does the plant it’s derived from.

My point is this is a very complex area. Science is just beginning to unlock the secrets within the cannabis family. One thing that seems promising is CBD can help with epilepsy, potentially shutting it down completely in some. I’m sure in a few years, there will be a wide range of thoroughly tested variations of CBD Oils that can be obtained legally. But for now, it’s still the “wild west”.

Do you use CBD Oils with your epileptic canine or feline? Have you spoken with your vet & were they allowed to offer guidance? Is it legal where you live? If you do use it, what sort of product do you use; a biscuits/chews, oil, extracts or balms? What results have you seen? So many questions from just one dog. BOL!

For the record I have tried it in the past & have experienced pawsitive increase cognitive behaviour but I do not take any CBD products at the moment.
