It’s National Dog Day

News

Hello everyone, CEO Olivia reporting. Did you know today is National Dog Day? It’s celebrated every year on August 26th. It was founded in 2004 by Pet & Family Lifestyle Expert & Animal Advocate, Colleen Paige, who is also the founder of National Puppy Day, National Mutt Day & National Cat Day to bring attention to the plight of animals & encourage adoption.

National Dog Day honors family dogs as well as dogs that work selflessly to save lives, keep us safe & bring comfort. The purpose of the National Dog Day Foundation is to rescue 10,000 dogs each year. Please paws for a moment to think about all the dogs in shelters or on the streets in need of a forever home.

When considering a new animal companion we always say, “adopt, don’t shop”. If you have your heart set on a purebred companion, consider visiting a website like bestfriends.org or petfinder.com to find one at a shelter. Learn how organizations like these are changing the way we adopt. As you search for your new family member, get prepared. Keep in mind the needs of a small versus large dog. Also consider volunteering at your local shelter or fostering. Shelters can always use donations of food, litter, blankets or toys.

I believe Q & I will be celebrating with gratitude for a pawtacular forever home filled with pawsitive love  & a wagnificent walk that will include many treats followed by several naps. We would pawsitively love to hear how you are celebrating National Dog Day 🐾💜🐾

  1. Lulu: “Yay for National Dog Day! For some reason my Dada got all excited about the middle dog in that group picture.”
Charlee: “You’ve seen pictures of Dennis around, haven’t you, Lulu? And Tucker? That middle dog is a vizsla like they were and Dada always likes to see pictures of vizslas.”
Lulu: “Oh. But he would like a picture of a dog that looked like me just as much, right?”
Charlee: “Of course! We all would.”
Chaplin: “Yeah yeah sure sure. Dennis is still my favorite though. Don’t tell Lulu I said that.”
Lulu: “But I’m sitting right here!”
